How it’s going so far

We have received 35 chapter pitches and 25+ chapter drafts 🎉 All chapter’s have been reviewed, and authors have received feedback. Thank you to all chapter authors who submitted their drafts for the first edition of our book!

We have some polished chapters already uploaded (see the book growing here 🌱). The hard deadline for chapter submissions is 1 April 2026 – meaning your chapter should be edited, polished, and on the GitHub Repository.

22nd June 2026 – Official Book Launch 📖

We will be launching the first edition of Teaching Programming Across Disciplines at the “Summer-time Winter School” on 22 June 2026! 🌈

This will take the same format as the previous two Winter Schools, with presentations and lightning talks. It will also be our official launch of the Book “Teaching Programming Across Disciplines”. As with our Winter School, the Summer School will be hybrid (online and in person in Edinburgh).

Online writing retreats

Register for the next online writing retreats:

Anyone is welcome to join, even if you are not (yet) contributing to the first edition of the book.

You will be able to choose between silent breakout rooms for focused writing or editing, and discussion rooms for chapter-related topics. Anyone is welcome to join, whether you are a chapter author looking for dedicated writing time, or you are interested in contributing to the book and would like to learn more. We will be on hand to help with tech support (e.g., putting your chapter on the book GitHub repository).
